The development of ski resorts is an important part of improving recreational opportunities and experiences for visitors. In 2023, the Strachan Ski Centre took an important step forward when it began the reconstruction, modernization, and automation of its snowmaking system. The goal of this investment was to ensure high-quality technical snow on the slopes, maximum use of water intended for snowmaking and reduction of the negative impact on the environment.
An important part of this modernization is the reconstruction of the MR 100 gas station, located on the dyke of the accumulation fire-fighting tank. This station serves as a water source for snowmaking and has undergone a thorough renovation, including the placement of new pumps, cooling towers and other technological improvements. In addition, the MR 200 pumping station in the upper part of the ski resort was also reconstructed, where we have new pressure pumps and surface water filtration equipment. Electrical switchboards and the relevant technology for snowmaking automatization were also replaced.
The project also includes a new snowmaking route, where a diesel aggregate is located to power the upper part of the snowmaking cannons. In addition, excavations were made for the placement of shafts for fixed snow cannons and mobile snow cannons. Excavations were made along the entire length of the ski slope to accommodate supply, power and control cables and optics.
The upcoming winter season brings another important novelty – the replacement of old snow cannons with new ones from the renowned company TechnoAlpin. These modern cannons will increase the quality of snow on the slopes, ensure uniform coverage and bring production efficiency. Thus, visitors can look forward not only to high-quality snow, but also to a responsible approach to the environment.
The investor of this building is the company ZORLAND s.r.o., which operates the Ski centrum Strachan. TECHNOALPIN EAST EUROPE s.r.o. from Žilina was chosen for the technological part of the project. On the other hand, TATRA BUILDING s.r.o. based in Ždiar, participates in the construction part of the project. The cooperation of these companies was key to ensuring the successful implementation of the project.
Construction work on this magnificent project began in July 2023. We firmly believe that everything will be ready by the end of November, so that we can meet in December on the perfectly groomed, modernized slopes of our Ski Center Strachan ski resort.
